About This Project

A1F is a handmade physical camera that uses AI to reinterpret photographs as Japanese-style illustrations. It invites you to slow down, choose a frame, press a physical shutter button, and wait to discover a different version of the moment. Two working prototypes, built before this campaign I have built two functional A1F prototypes, and both work well. This campaign will take A1F from individually assembled prototypes to a controlled, repeatable small-batch production process.

Key Highlights

 ▸ A1F combines a 3D-printed enclosure with threaded metal inserts, exposed screws, a left-hand grip, physical controls, a 320 × 480 touch IPS display, and a side OLED for status, storage, and AI credits. 

 ▸ A1F includes 8 MB of internal storage, enough for approximately 45–50 photos depending on file size and thumbnails. 

 ▸ Vintage 35mm mode runs entirely on the camera, works instantly without Wi-Fi, does not use AI credits, and has no photo limit.
